(continued from above) The fifth couplet says: "Both do not freedom share, For one's free and one's bound, One by hard work does dare, One quite slothful is found." The seventh couplet states: "Both do not have value, Though both are living souls, One by work does subdue, One never reaches goals."
Author's editorial note (not listed in the poem, though the contract makes it clear): The diligent have a mindset based on capitalism, the slothful have a mindset on socialism. It helps to realize though both are living in our free land, both do not think the same, act the same, vote the same, etc..
