The Wright Brothers, Reaching For The Horizon, 4 pages, 60 lines
(continued from above) As aviation pioneers in the early 1900's, they dreamed and saw what others did not. Their aeronautical experimentation led to their successful development of the aeroplane. They reached for the horizon and they bravely took to the sky! The 4th couplet says: "They labored in most earnest zeal, While others pursued lesser things, Believing that man could fly was real, Though he did not have his own strong wings." The 7th couplet informs: "Learning through their own calculations, The proper knowledge of wind and flight, They built to their specifications, Which they had determined as right." Through years of hard work they brought forth one of the world's greatest inventions which has affected the lives of all. The poem closes: "They did reach out for the horizon, They dreamed, and worked, and did fly, Greatness and success they humbly won, With a great legacy they did die." The Wright Brothers are a true part of Americana and the world!
