PROTESTING ~ IS LAWFUL, RIOTING ~ IS A LAWLESS MESS

This Poem has to do with the Baltimore  rioting  and  looting. It is written as an editorial to uphold the constitutional right of  peaceful  protesting,   but denounces the lawlessness of thuggery  and  destruction  of property.  It  rebukes  the  sad appeasement of governmental officials  to  quell  a crowd  or play up to a crowd.  It mentions the proper order of what should have been done to prevent the looting, not  permit  it. PROTESTING ~ IS LAWFUL, RIOTING ~ IS A LAWLESS MESS,  24 lines     Subject:   Baltimore rioting and looting

(continued from above)       It  mentions  that  if  there  is  abuse  in  policing,  that  the  process  ought  to  go  forward.  To  blame  all,  if  one  (or  some)  do not  right,  is  blind  and  thick-headed  (obtuse).   The fourth couplet states:    "No leadership anywhere found,    Mayoral failures appeasing,    Liberal Government unsound,   The riotous crowd so pleasing."

It is the opinion of this editor,  that our Police forces  do a very difficult and splendid work.   To tell them  not to do their job,  and let thugs break the law,  is totally wrong  and provocative  of more lawlessness.   Thugs and lawbreakers  understand one thing,  and it is not empty rhetorical speeches of appeasement,  it is proper use of power to subdue their lawlessness.   Police officers are that line of defense,  not the toys of politicians!
