The Foot Soldier

This poem describes the daily regimen of the foot soldier.   It also gives a good glimpse of his life,  character,  attitudes,  longings,   and hopes.    Each couplet has four successive rhymes.    

The  7th  couplet  reads:       "The battles go on and on, These are not just as mere pawn,    America's best are gone,   To fight ever and anon."   (continued below)
