This poem cheers the American Flag as the Banner of the Free. It is costly to fly either home or abroad, as courageous men have paid the ultimate price under its folds to keep it flying high and free. One of the couplets reads: "Men have died holding it up on high, Never to let it dip or to fall. Respect for it shown as it goes by, Ready to hear its beckoned call." Hoorah for the flag of the free! We gratefully salute!
