The Essential, Well Regulated Militia

The Essential, Well Regulated Militia

This poem explains what it meant to the Patriots to have a well regulated militia.  It is written to remind the "modern day thinker" of the context and times that they lived and their motivations for putting in place the Second Amendment.  The 4th couplet states:  "Affixing the Second Amendment,   Was a deliberate stance of choice, Shows very clearly their main intent,  The context of victory gives voice."   (continued below)

The Essential, Well Regulated Militia,  28 lines

(continued from above)   It rebukes and lampoons the jaded efforts of those that seek to push their anti-gun agendas in our modern day.   It closes with a challenge to listen to the Patriot's clarion call to arms to defend and win their liberty and asks the question,   "Awake! ~ Is there not still a great cause."    At the bottom of the poem,  it  gives  a  brief  history  of  the  nighttime  ride  of Paul Revere  and  Williams  Dawes,  also  cited  in  the  poem.  A  vital  read for  all,  both  young  and  old.
