The Curse Of Drink, And Its Cure

The Curse Of Drink, And Its Cure

This POEM has been written to highlight  the  negative affects and effects of drunkenness.  It calls  a  drunkard  a  drunkard, and  gives some sad scenarios that  accompany  a  drunkard's bad   influences   in  life,  in the  home,  in  society,  upon himself / herself.   Behind the wheel  of  a vehicle  is  deadly, leaving  many  grieving  due to the  death  or  maiming  of  a  loved  one  (all because of the selfishness  of  the  drunkard). The Curse Of Drink,  24 lines

(continued from above)      It mentions how a drunkard  robs his family  of vital resources ~ for his lust for booze;   and the loss  of much tranquility. It  mentions  how  many  have  become  homeless,  lying  in  their  own stench  and  squalor  due  to  drunkenness,   begging  for  money  for  food ~ which  gets  spent  on  more booze.    Though  there  are  many  who  seek  to  help  the drunkard,  of  which  some  do,  the  greatest  cure  is  stated  in  the  closing couplet.   The  greatest  power  on  earth  to  cleanse  and  change  a  heart  and  life  is  the  Gospel.
