This POEM is a tribute to the greatest  generation  who  ably carried the weight  of the world on  their  shoulders.  From  the blood - soaked - beaches  of Normandy, to the Battle Of The  Bulge,  to  the  unconditional surrender of Germany, on May 7th, 1945.  Victory  In  Europe, May 8, 1945, V.E. DAY brought great  jubilation  amidst  the horrors  of  war,  the  liberation of  concentration  camps, and much carnage and death.   (continued below)

(continued from above)     The 5th couplet says:    "They bequeathed to the world freedom,    As true lovers of their liberty,    They followed the paths of wisdom,    They came and they set the captives free.     This was nothing short of a miracle!    Thank God for the American Veteran!
